Only attempt steals or blocks when you are certain the opponent will shoot or stand still. Early steals lead to blow-bys and easy baskets.

Never Get Passed

Sprint to recover position but prioritize staying between your man and the basket. A good defender stays within three steps at all times.

Shift Lock Tracking

With Shift Lock on, face your opponent's back while guarding. Move laterally when they go left or right — you will stay in front without lunging at the rim.
